Being an "expert neighbor" is enough. You don't need a PhD.
When people talk with me about creating a content-based, money-making web site with Site Build It, they often express misgivings about their level of expertise.
"I'm not a real expert on this topic. I don't have any special qualifications."
"I feel nervous about advising people on a topic about which I don't know a great deal more than they do."
Relax. Don't worry.
You don't need to have letters after your name in order to offer helpful and useful advice.
There was a time, until very recently, when a formal qualification was almost a requirement before you could reasonably present yourself as a valuable and reliable source of information.
But the Internet has changed that.
Think about that most venerable of information sources, the encyclopedia.
Encylopedia Britannica has long prided itself on the fact that thousands of its entries are written by experts with Nobel prizes.
Now think about Wikipedia. This online encyclopedia is written, collectively, by people like you and me.
Which encyclopedia do you think is read most frequently these days?
And Wikipedia is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to regular folks offering advice online. If you have ever been to Yahoo! Answers you'll know what I mean.
Across the Net, people like you are sharing their knowledge.
When you write an entire we site on a topic that interests you, you are simply following a trend that is already established. Online we constantly seek help from gifted amateurs or "expert neighbors". We no longer feel the need to ask a professional expert.
Also, as soon as you start to write your new web site, you will find your knowledge of your chosen topic growing by leaps and bounds.
The more you write, the more you will learn.
And by that process alone you will soon know more about your subject that 99% of people who come to your site.
You don't need to know every single thing about a topic in order to offer valuable advice.
You simply need to know more than most of your visitors.
